UKBA, Home Office UK has implemented Points Based System for UK Immigration in early 2009 and the Points Based System includes Tier 1 for Highly Skilled, Tier 2 for Sponsored Skilled Workers, Tier 4 for Students and Tier 5 for Temporary Workers. However, there are other various visas designed for various
purposes. These visas are divided under different Immigration categories like ‘Settlement
Visas’ and ‘Non Settlement Visas’.
While Settlement
Visas (like Tier 1 General or Tier 1 Entrepreneur or Old HSMP Visa) allow you long period of stay
leading to Permanent Resident or Indefinite Leave to Remain in the
UK, non settlement visas are for shorter periods and do not lead to

How I wish such a site was available when I applied for HSMP and came to UK under HSMP!
